Secondly, I thought that using the Hole Table function automatically added
Centre Marks to the holes selected, now I've got to selected each hole a
second time, more wasted time ... !

I've reported this before - can't remember which version - but it has been
fixed so a public condemnation of Adsk is needed.
I beleive there are a lot of formatting problems with hole tables, maybe
they can be listed in ths post so that Adsk have them all in one place.
"My bug" appears when you 'roll up' the Description and also add the Tapping
Drill Size. Because there are now two lines of Description the Hole Table
wrongly assumes that you need two lines for the Hole name and coordinates.
Have a look at the attached and compare hole series 'A' with hole series 'B'
& 'C' and lok at the height of each row.
The consequence of this bug is that the Hole Table is now a lot
longer/taller than it needs to be and takes up more room 😞
