!!HELP!! Sending an assembly via e-mail !!HELP!!

Afternoon guys,

Having a bit of a problem sending an assembly via e-mail.

Basically I am trying to send an assembly but I dont want them seeing the dimensions of the parts, so just wondering is there a way to send the assembly without sending the individual parts? If so how?

Thanks in advance!!

AJ

Open up the assembly, suppress the parts you don't want seen or included, then save the assembly file as either a step, parasolid or iges file.

Understand that what ever is left can still be measured.  Can't doing anything about that.

Try using shrinkwrap

Make a derived part of the assembly and breake the link. You can also scale it to whatever scale you want if you don't want them to have the correct sizes.

Hi guys,

Thanks for quick reply, I converted to STEP & Igs files but now some materials are not converting over (stainless steel)

Never used shrinkwrap and just had a quick look but it filled in the holes with a cream colour? is that normal and when my client opens the file will they be there?

How to get derived part?

Thanks

How to create derived part:

http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Inventor/enu/2013/Help/0126-Tutorial126/0127-Inventor127/0340-Derived_3...

In the picture attached you will see how to break the link.

Good luck!

AJ,

The downside of creating a step, iges or any such file is it creates a dumb solid.  Meaning any parameters or properties are not carried over from the original.  You can add them to the dumb solid, but they will not carry over.

What is the purpose on their end?

Maybe a 3D *.dwf is all they need.
