Trying to explain how the weld feature works in words could be tricky, but a couple short YouTube videos helps get the basic understandings.

If you need assistance with a particular issue with welds, just post back, but for the most part it is pretty simple...

Good luck...

On the tube frame, I am assuming the one corner where you have the grooves cut is where you want the weld.

Becasue the grooves are different, side grooves are different from the inner and outer corners, you will need 2 welds, but it will fill in.

In the groove weld, make sure you have both "Full Face Weld" boxes checked and Chain Faces.

The first video in the previous post on groove weld will help you when selecting the faces.

Edit:

To add to this, what is your expected outcome of applying welds? I think there are 2 outcomes of applying welds, one is for appearance, and the other is for weld costing, length of beads, mass of total welds if assembly is large enough etc etc...
