Help needed- can't set distance to an axis for a rotational object

Hi! I tried to search for similar topics, but didn't find any- guess my question is too basic. But I need help.

I want to create a rotational object. So I created a sketch, drew the layout, set dimensions and constraints (there are still 6 missing, but all I get are driven dimensions by now).

Now I want to rotate this around an axis. When I choose Part Features>Rotate it does rotate my layout and create a rotational part, but it's way to close to the axis. I also can't dimension the distance to the axis.

How can I do this?

I quit the sketch and created a work axis on my y-axis, but still can't relate this to my layout in the sketch.

I can't create a work axis in my sketch.

Thanks for any help! I think I'll have some more questions later :-/

Moving the layout might help too, now I tried something different and the layout moved to the other (wrong) side of the axis and I can't undo it- except for using the undo button, but then the dimension I just entered disappears.

I have not used a "fix" constraint at any point, don't know why inventor moved the left part of the layout instead of the right (which would've been farther away from the intended rotational axis (which should be identical with the y-axis of my base system).

Create a line INSIDE the same sketch for the rotation axis.

If you are using an origin axis for the rotation axis PROJECT the axis in
the same sketch.

How can I project the y-axis into my sketch?

I just tried (as it said in the Inventor help) to create a 3d-sketch. There I could indeed select work-axis and click on the Y-axis of my basic system. It then created a new y-axis in the 3d-sketch. However I can't refer to this new axis in my 2d-sketch where I have my design.

You don't need a 3D sketch. You don't need to create any additional axis. Edit your original 2D Sketch.
Zip and attach your file here.

You might want to read this document - http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/AU2007/MA105-1L%20Mather.pdf

With the 2D sketch active for edit, select Project Geometry from the sketch
panel, then select the Y axis from the browser window after expanding the
origin. Read JD's PDF!
