Help Constructing Cylindrical object

I need to drawing something similar to the attached image on either side of a "U" shaped rod.

The "U" shape is drawn using a sweep of a circle (the hatched section on the atatched image illustrates).

I just can't fathom how to draw the solid at the top oneiter side.

I've been trying to add a plane at an angle, then draw a circle & try to sweep that for each half of the "u", but after a few hours, total fail.

Any assistance gratefullt received.

Ta.

Attach your ipt file of what you have completed so far.

Looks like a simple Split Part with a V shaped sketch should finish the part.

Great, that looks simple enough.

Attached is the ipt.

How did you construct the V sketch & associated work planes?

V sketch is a 2d sketch.
Not sure where you see any associated work planes in the image I posted earlier.

See the attache ipt file.

You can change the 90° angle to any desired angle or replace with a perpendicular constraint if it will always be 90°.

Hey thanks for that.  I contructed a new ipt (attached) which got to the solution in a simialr way.

I assumed that I needed to place a circle on a WP at the desired angle, but having seen your example & the use of the Split function, all became clear.

Understanding what fucntions are available to achieve the desire effect is one of my present stumbling blocks.

Thanks again Smiley Happy

It wouldn't be a circle, it would be elliptical.

When modeling think about how the actual part would be made.

A cylindrical rod would be bent and cut.
If you tried to follow logic of circle on angle to axis you should come to realization that the profile isn't circular on the angled cut of a cylinder.
