Is it possible to assign hatch patterns for material styles? I need IV13 to draw Ansi32 for steel and Ansi31 for Aluminum automatically.

Good morning Paul,
I would like to assign hatch patterns to certain materials too.
I have looked at the styles tab (part & drawing) and can't seem to
find the hatch pattern style.
Any help with setups to speed up the drawing process would be most
appreciated. On this note, I can find most things by trial and error
(poke it with the pointy end of a stick and see what happens)
But a "Did you know this" information would be well received by all
Many thanks
Mark
Thanks for the response,
Can we do the same thing for the layers and line weight?
E.g: layer called "aluminum" for aluminum, and so on
Hi Mark, sorry for the delayed response...
The hatch settings can be found by opening a drawing file, opening the Style and standard editor and clicking on the 'Material and hatch pattern defaults' tab.
This is where you can add your standard materials, and map them to your standard hatch patterns. Click on the 'other...' button to get more hatch patterns or load in hatch patterns from an AutoCAD .PAT file.
Mohandis - Layer properties are found in the 'Layers' node of the tree. Layers in Inventor aren't related to materials, they are related to features so there is no easy way of mapping the two. You can do it retrospectively using iLogic.
What about line widths and color, can they also assign line widths and color by material?
I don't think so. It looks like line weight and colour are layer properties. There is only one section hatch node in the Object defaults, leading me to suggest that all hatches will go on the same layer.
You can create multiple layers and use iLogic to map objects to layers by material, here is an example:
