I've stumbled about this after looking here:

Try to set the Draft of the Grill feature to 10°. You can't.
I've managed 5.5° with a former attempt, but no luck again. File is 2013

I note if I set the Boundary Thickness to 0.0 in, I can then get a 10 deg draft angle. See image below for clarification.
Does that help?
Thanks,
That pointed me to the right direction, Nathan. See attachment (2013 file).
Grill is working, if boundary thickness is less than about 0.025 in. Within this range, the outside faces of the grill stay in the interior of the existing part, and can produce a split face (marked red). If the boundary is greater, no more splitting appears, and the error shows up.
