Nice, pretty clean workplace you got there 🙂

As promised in last weeks picture topic, a render of my tai chi sabre.

sabre_Showcase.jpg

I had this lasercut from stainless steel, made a handle for it and had a friend make the brass end which he also filled with lead to balance it out.

It weighs a formidable 1,6 kg. (many times heavier than the storebought practice swords 😉 )

If i remember i'll add a photograph of the actual sword as well.

Spoiler

Same sword, inventor realistic raytrace view

Hi Neils

Cheers Mate,

Heres a re-post of a pic i did a few years back. Might try to redo this and see how much i can remember

as to how to model this efficiently.

OP is ..... awesome.

Feel like I learned a bit of welding fabs just from looking at it.

Must have something to do with the image being inserted into the web page. I did have to reduce the file size to allow for posting.

More likely something to do with a Madonna video.  *snicker*

This is both early and late, but I came across it this afternoon while moving some old documents around.  It is not an Inventor model, so forgive me... but I still think it was a fun project... even though it never got built.

So, for what it's worth.....hsls.JPG

Another version....

So glad to know I'm not the only one who draws things that never get past the "virtual" stage!

I have lot's of those, fall under the R & D heading. I'm sure everyone has "new idea's" that stall or sit for a while before resurfacing, sometimes in a modified version of the original idea.

In this case, that's exactly what happened.  We did build and ship a much scaled down version of this.  Still hoping these will take off, but it's a rather large capitol investment.

Man! You guys are good!...I have never rendered anything in my life, unless you count rendering myself useless by drinking too much..haha...Gotta learn how to do that! I wonder how the linear particle accelerator would look in a rendering...?...Hmm...Does file size affect render time?...or ? Is there a rendering for dummies book out there?...I have no clue where to start... Oh, and we use ALOT of shiny aluminum and SS stuff...does that have any bearing on things? We do alot of posters for grad students and physicists when they go to conferences, and posters that are put up for tours. Alot of times we just throw a screenshot on them or something..Im sure these guys would appreciate something alittle nicer..
