Hi,
Just like to add to the Friday picture group.
Last week there were some nice pics of guitar stuff, so as an “old guitarist wanabe” just though I would add a pic of a Capo. I say the word guitarist quite loosely, what I really mean is I am what they call “King of the intro’s” you know the one that can only play the first 3 beats of any track – ha ha.
Ah well, keep stummin guy’s
Cheers

Very cool looking renders Mark! (what software did you do those in?)
I didn't have a lot of time, so i just made a render during my lunchbreak of a part i just finished.
It's one of those nice sheetmetal shapes that Inventor cannot unfold, so it's part sheetmetal and then derived to make the last bend with "bend part". 😉
In all honesty, i feel that ShowCase didn't do a very nice job with the texture/shadowlines in this one... but i didn't have enough time to see why and if i could improve it...

Not guitar related, but a Studio render of the chicken coop I desinged and built.
Just to add a more interesting picture, sheetmetal can be dull to look at, here's what that ring belongs to.
Quick render, didn't take the time to change any materials and just picked a random environment.
Have a nice weekend!

Also not guitar related, it's a model of a foot brake I created a few months ago.
What's the difference between a Chicken Coupe and a Chicken Sedan? The Chicken Coupe has only two doors.
One done a while back in Inventor Studio:
Just started doing this one for my father (architect).. Got TONS more work to do.. need all the ground/elevations...details..trim..windows,etc.. then the whole inside..
Then probably import it into 3ds for the final rendering..
That is definitely a Revit project there!!!

Yeah.. but I don't have Revit.. And I know Inventor 😉 I actually started doing it in 3ds max but then realized I don't know how to work in that program either. ha ha ha..
Too many buttons/options for me.. But I will do the final renders in there I think..
My dad still does all his architecture work with a pencil.. I tried to move him to Autocad about 10 years ago but he likes his pencil (can't teach an old dog new tricks).. The man is a friggin artist with a pencil.. Its obviously what got me started in CAD.. I was going to work for him but then decided I liked electro-mechanical stuff a bit more than architecture.
Morning Niels,
We have a bit of a satellite time lag in replying - ha ha, I finish work on Friday’s at 1 o'clock (8am ish American time). I rendered the Capo using Vred, all default settings "straight out of the box".
I did a bit of post render work using a free online photo editor, my work flow is to render 2 shots of the cad model, a photo shot and an ambient occlusion shot. Tweek the photo shot to how you like it (normally just need to adjust the "levels" setting) add the ambient occlusion shot as a new layer, adjust the layer properties mode to multiply. This removes the white colour and makes the dark shadow parts really "pop out", change the layer opacity to around 50% so it looks good.
Using an ambient occlusion shot over the photo shot gives the render an "instinctively correct looking" appearance as a lot of renders tend to look like they are floating in air because of the missing shadows.
Cheers
Mark
I know, it's Monday...
@mcgyvr 's post asking for models of trees made me think of this project I did several years ago:
