I don't really like publishing "proper" work on the web, but one of the products I've been working on has recently launched, so I thought I'd upload some of the renders I did for it:
higher quality 2000x2000 version which starts to get some of the plastic texture finish:
(original is 15000x15000 75Mb jpg as it was for a poster, so all the surface texture/bumps are reduced a lot to prevent them looking like craters on the original)
Inventor model rendered in Showcase. I wish it allowed mirror reflections without needing to raytrace, as I find the results better (and easier to achieve) using the hardware rendering. So, I had to duplicate all parts, rotate them around and then place them underneath a semi-transparent ground. It kinda works, but I wish Showcase had a way to flip/mirror parts too, as just rotating it doesn't really work with some of the geometry, so there's some problems if you know what to look for (the little triangle/arrow in the middle of the bottom-edge is wrong in the reflection, as it's different on the other side of the product).
I was asked to come up with an image of it "floating" above a reflective ground, so it's meant to be hovering, which is a little weird. I originally proposed this, as i thought it was a little more natural, but ghostly floating is apparently better: original reflection
I also did some a vid for the product, which I quite like: mp4 (4Mb) video
other renders were used for the website (and I've spotted the website's animation has been put into YouTube too)

Just thought I'd get in with a Friday pic this year and before all the Xmas images start to appear...

Very nice, makes my simple quick render almost not worth the effort 😉
(btw, sorry it's a christmas picture already 😄 )
It's not 100% correct, since i didn't make the slots to actually put 2 halves together.
If they get round to cutting this on the laser i'll post a picture of the actual thing next time.

Hi Sam_m
Very nice, Im' liking the "noir" look.
Not done any thing nice to render for the last few weeks,
just stuck doing "donkey work" jigs and fixtures.
So, just thought i would add a ambiant screen shot.
Cheers
Mark
Just a quick screen image from my last project that is in production.

I made this for when customers want to know if a pallet jack will fit under the product, I'm not sure why the colors of the bar and the base changed to gray and black.
Again I'm late to the party ...
So here I am, trying to sell my boss on the idea of buying me a nice CNC machining setup at work, and this is part of my sales pitch. We have several machines that use cylinder cams for one thing or another, and he asked me on Friday if I was silling to bet me life that I could actually cut them if he did buy me a nice CNC mill. I told him that yes, of course I could - no problem at all.
I figured I'd better make sure of that, though, sooooooooooooo here's what I did yesterday. Modeled using the design accelerator cam design module in Inventor Pro 2015, toolpaths done in Inventor HSM, parts cut out of some crap redwood decking material left over when a friend of mine demo'd his deck. Machine is a Vision 2448 router table but with all the controls and electronics redone - Gecko G540 drives, better steppers, Mach3 control, and a 2 1/4 HP Bosch router for the spindle.
(The machine that I've found that I want him to buy for me is a Bridgeport Boss 3 that's been totally refurbished and has modern electronics.)
(Yes, I know my keyboard is dusty.)
(edit: the cams have 270 degrees of advance, 90 degrees of retract, and 1" total lift.)
