Spy gadget entry?

Now that I see the guts, where's the ejector seat? 🙂

Nice work on the surfaces BTW.

>where's the ejector seat?

Due to MI6 regulations many of the more advanced features had to be classified as top-secret and I was not able to include them in the publicly released model. ;~0

I would like to know if you make drawings of your model with all of that grating?

Thanks

Yes we do.
That's not real platform grating. We use a transparent color on the platform surface that looks like grate. It's the old crystal ball trick.
We are on 10 SP3 with 4GB Ram and we can open the assembly and idw, and we can save them and print. But we can not close them without Inventor crashing. It happen on all our big floorplans. I will render one of you platforms up close and post.

Thanks for the reply. We use lots of grating where I work and we are not able to make drawings of assemblies that have too much grating (actually modeled) in them. Currently we model a small portion of the grating and leave the rest of the part as a slab. I am also curious if you are using Vault? We also have issues with large assembly models not closing (IV11, SP2) as well as some Vault misbehavior.

Thank you

Seems like you could save a lot of memory if you created a texture for your grating.

No we do not use Vault. Our reseller is always on us that we need to use Vault. We have 20 Inventor users and about 20 AutoCAD users. Believe it we are using single user projects. Each user has their own project file so they can change it how they want. We just have a strick folder structure that everyone has to follow. Vault is too complex. Why can Inventor not handle files like excel. If someone has an Excel file open it gets lock, why not Inventor. We really don't have over writing each other. Everyone is read only on our Library and if someone want to add to the Library they have to go through me.
Having a texture for our grating really help keep the size down on our files. When we want to show the grating in idw's we shade the view.

We went to Vault/PS mainly for file and rev control but you are right, it's complicated not to mention cumbersome and un-intuitive.

"We also have issues with large assembly models not closing (IV11, SP2)"

Is it that they won't close or it takes forever? Forever is my problem and it seems worse if you actual don't save when closing.
