Frame Generator Miter Corner Question

HI,

I have query on Frame Generator Miter Corner. Please DL the attach .ipt and roll down the EOP to see the sketch. Save and place on an assembly.

- Invoke Design > Insert Frame > ANSI > ANSI (Equal Anle) - Angle Steel > 2 x 2 x 5/16

- Select the sketch > Notice on the intersection of curve and straight line entity, there is a GAP

- Invoke Miter Corner select the straight angle then the curve angle

Result:

- It will not allow you to select th curve angle. WHY? NO, IDEA...

Is there any work around to miter the 2 entities?

Thanks & Regards,

Willie

Hi Willie,

IMO mitering of curved shapes is not supported by 2012 FG. I didn't try with later versions.

You need to do that outside of FG.

Hi WH,

Appreciate your quick response. But, it does not give me a good contour on the intersections.

Thanks & Regards,

Well, I think, the welding guys wouldn't ever have noticed that.

Attached is an improvement, only once between red and blue part. Copy to separate folder.

Hello Willie,

effectively the end treatment miter between a folded (round) beam seems to be improved starting release 2013:

2013.png

Maybe could be a workaround in 2012 => could be possible to generate a "merged" profile:

=> select the 4 portions of the sketch in frame generator >> select option "merge"

=> a single member is generated => the result is not perfect but could be sufficient.

Mayby could help

Best Regards
