So I use the frame generator quite often and it works flawlessly. I am always using a rectangular reference skeleton that joins 4 custom profiles together. This means mitering the corners is a breeze because they all are the same general size. I do have one application that until now wasn't made using the frame generator and was easily controlled by a dummy file using the parameters to adjust the width and heights.
Now I'd like to re-write this assembly using the frame generator approach. The problem i'm having is mitering the MSD-318 and MSD-302 parts. I need to create a custom end treatment where I can make these two shapes miter at 45°. I know it can be done but I'm not sure how. Also, maybe I'm going about this the wrong way.
The MSD-301 and MSD-302 are both 1/2" x 1-1/4" so they miter perfectly. The actual section of MSD-318 that I need to miter is also exactly 1/2" x 1-1/4". The top "tab" needs to remain the same.
So would I create a custom profile that can be applied to each side of MSD-318? If so, would I need to create something on each of the other parts, too?
Or is it as simple as controlling where the miter is applied on part MSD-318?

Maybe I'm missing your issue, but typically you'd just use a skeletal frame that allows the frame members to overlap initially and then go into the end treatments and use the Miter. It should start and end the coping only where the solids overlap.
Thats what I thought but it doesn't. The whole extrusion turns into a miter, not just the overlapping section.
Right. I tested populating a frame with square tube for the sides & bottom and a rectangular for the top to simulate your situation. However, even after extending the rectangular tube to the external faces of the square tubes, the miter still consumes all of both parts.
The Bisect Miter option gets part of the way there but in my example the inside doesn't contact the vertical frame. Maybe you'll have better luck wit that?
