force part to layer

Hello

Im required to massage my inventor drawings in autocad (client requirement).

This is achievable through exporting my drawing as .dwg - all working well apart from one small thing.

I have one part on the drawing which must be on a separate layer.   I have made the layer and now wish to export the inventor drawing and have that part on the layer i make (for manipulation on autocad).

Any clues?  I can make the layer, but can't '
force' the part to be exported as that layer.

Thanks gents

Hi Joe

Here is a workaround to meet your requirement, you can have a try:

Create a layer in Inventor same as you required in AutoCAD DWG

From view browser, select the part, from RMB context menu choose the command 'Select as Edge'

Select As Edge.png

From Annotation tab, select your defined layer in the layer drop-down list.

Select Layer.png

Save the file as DWG formatted, you can check its layer setting in AutoCAD
