FLAT PATTERN FROM DERIVED PART

Can't create a flat pattern from a derived sheet metal part? Any work around
? Anyone knows, Please help?

Did you select Applications pull down => Sheet Metal?

If you broke the association between the two parts, there is no way to creat
the flat pattern. All of the features of the original part are just "dumb"
solids in the new part.

You can create a flat pattern from a derived part or even a SAT or STEP
transfer from another system.

You have to have the sheetmetal application active and set the thickness and
bend radius to be the same as the model. You will then be able to unfold
the part.

No, the derived part is associated with the original sheet metal part.

Thanks, Stan.
I did not set the thickness on the derived part and that's the reason why I
got the error mesg.
It works now.

I can make a flat pattern of a derived part in 5.3 no problem.
