Flat parten of a Sheet Metal

Hi,

I had to change the hight of a Sheet Metal by plus 1/8''.  The change was made in the Sketch.  Why is it that, in the flat parten part, the hight chanded only by plus 1/16" ??

Have no idea, it is only the hight I am changing !

Thanks!

Sophie

Thanks... here is the file.

When I and 1/8'' to the sketch: 31,625 becomes 31,75''

But on the flat parten: 25,873'' becomes 25,936''

Thanks!

Sophie

You are making this part incorrectly.

You should (almost) never ever ever use Fold command.

There are several correct ways - I'm going to show you perhaps the easiest way.

Start a new part file.

Start a new sketch on the Top plane.

Create the sketch shown (I used your inside R11.75 but use either the outside R12, whichever is your critical dimension).

I dimensioned the angle exactly as you have it - but I suspect this isn't what you really want as it can't be inspected and is therefore not manufacturable.  Change the angle to what it is really supposed to be.

Attach the file here for instructions on next step.

In addition to JD's instruction, the reason you're seeing "incorrect" flat pattern dimensions is because you're sketch1 is symetrical about the origin. Your surface2 is fixed to the origin so only half of the change in length of sketch1 is realized.

I see.

So for you, the part was still well done...

Only thing if I what to stretch the flat part to 1/8",

Streching the sketch to 1/4" is correct?

I would have created the part more like JD's method.

To increase the length you want, either increase sketch1 by 1/4 or more correctly, add your 1/8 to only the end that's not cut by the surface.
