Hello;
My boss was asking about trying to do some fea, & was wondering what the capabilities where with inventor 2008. I plugged it in in search, & index, & nothing came up. Can anything be done with inventor 2008? What add ons, or directions might be the best way to go if the capabilities are lacking, & for about how much money?

You can perform structural analysis on parts.
So here's what it does not do: thermal, fluid
flow, transient analysese, etc. It will also not perform
analysis on assemblies. It has a very basic implementation of the ANSYS
engine.

yes, to add to the list of "does nots": not valid for large strains and only valid in linear region of stress-strain curve for material (i.e. no plastic strain).
