Extrude To surface problem

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong (see attached screenshot). I am simply trying to cut extrude a shape "to" a surface but keep getting a modeling failure error saying: "The toolbody is not completely terminated by the termination plane and/or part." Gary gcross@crossdesign.com
