Extrude / Cut a surface feature

I have an imported stp file 10' long hollow cylinder surface body. I would like to remove 3' from one end. How can I accomplish this?

Jerry

Tried that with this reply "Cutting Tool does not cut any surfaces".

I tried all I could find in Help. Forum is my last resort.

I'm using 2014.

I tried but file too large.

Trim works fine on new surface ipt, but not on this imported stp file "Could not trim. The selected component has no surfaces."

I'm using 2014

Find the red End of Part marker.

Drag the red EOP above the feature(s) in the browser - hiding all geometry.

Save the file with the red EOP in this rolled up state.

Right click on the filename and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here, or if still too large, to A360.

Yes, but I'm moving on to new employer next week. So, I'm only taking half days for this week.

We believe we have found a solution to the problem I posted. It lays in setting the options correctly when opening the stp. I'll carry it further today to make sure. Thanks for help, kudos!
