exporting .stl and .stp, waterthigh problem

Hello,

I have a waterthigh problem that appears when I export this file in .stl and .stp. Could someone export it and explain me what I should do to fix this?

I am working on autodesk inventor professsionnal 2014 student version, on windows8, 64bit.

Thank you,

Carmen

Why did you not use a Pattern for the Hole features?

Can you attach a *.stp and *.stl file here that exhibits the problem?

Why is the Coil feature done as a separate body and then Combine-Cut rather than Cut in the Coil feature?

Drag the EOP up and save at each step till the problem occurs.

I would re-model the part from scratch, significantly simplifying the feature tree.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I am a real beginner with inventor (actually with 3D modeling in general), so I guess there are much easier and better ways to do.

I attached a .stp file, you can see that weird patterns appear in the spiral groove.

The *.stp file looks identical to the original on my machine.  Can you post a screen capture of what you are seeing?

Here it is, they are wavy patterns in two grooves

I suspect that might be a problem with your graphics card rather than with the geometry.

Try these two things

Set  you Visual Style to Shaded with Edges

go to Tools>Application Options>Hardware tab and set to Software graphics.

Do you see any difference?

Not sure if your Inventor 2014 version are up-to-date, so far the Inventor SP2 and its Update2 had been released. You can also try to install them if not.

Check the attached file (I didn't include the text).

I changed the 16° hole a bit - make sure however you end up modeling that feature, that it can be manufactured (I am assuming a thru-drilled hole).

See if you can reproduce the attached model. (created in student license).

If you edit the attached file - pull the red End of Part marker above Hole1 while you do the text and Extrude-cut.  Then pull it back down after finishing.  This will make it easier for you on re-build time while working on the text.
