A manufacturer we work with is having trouble with .dwg files we send them. They have what seem to be viewports with the model in them and the dimensions and notes in paperspace. But there is nothing in modelspace, and no way to ^C copy any parts of the model.
Is there some way to go from .idw to .dwg that results in a more conventional AutoCAD drawing, or some advice I can relay to the manufacturer on how to do anything with these .dwg files besides mark them up?

Attachment seems to be still an Inventor DWG. I did:
- Open your DWG with Inventor 2014
- Save Copy as AutoCAD-DWG
After that you should see the result in ACAD Model space.

Thanks! That got the job done. That method puts everything into modelspace, but since most of our manufacturers are still stuck in the 20th century when it comes to CADD, it suits them just fine.
