Hi,
I was wondering if I can export the workpoints in my IPT file when I save a copy as DWF.
I want the DWF users to be able to measure the point to point snap locations.
I gave it a try and to no avail.
Thanks
As it is the Dwf format doesn’t include the ability to view sketch or work points in a component. It will only see the model or drawing facets of the file.
To be able to measure to distinctive points you would need model features to measure to. Like a notch or other feature. Please keep in mind that measurement in a Dwf or Dwfx formats are non-precise dimensions and are not a substitute for measurement directly from the model.
Not precise.
Ewww. Thats not good. Why did Autodesk sell the fact that you can measure markup etc?
The measurements in a Dwf are taken from an image file and not the model. These dimensions are good for general information. As any technical person that deals with dwf would point out these general informational dimension should not be a replacement for actual model measurements. For general information there good, for design or manufacturing they shouldn’t be used. I as a madder of clarification I point this out anytime the discussion of dwf and measurements come up.
Thanks for the clarification.
My intent in not to use for mfg at all, but to get approximations like the attached image.
I suppose thats all its really good for, after all its free.
We mainly need it to view and orbit, much like Inventor viewer, but with a little more capability.
Some of our vendors are making mfg errors working with just a paper drawing reduced down to an A size and clarity is the issue.
Using the viewers was my suggestion to management as a corrective action.
