In 2011 when we exported our sheet metal flat pattern to dwg files for our burn/nesting program it converted any elipses to line segments using the spline linear tolerance settings. Now in 2013 they are coming across as true ellipses which our nesting program can't handle. I'm not what happend brcause none of my export settings have changed.
Anybody know how to get the elipsesw to export as line segments again?
Lance,
During the export, you have the options button that will prompt you for what version for DWG you would like to go back to. You can go back as far as 2000.
Have you tried exporting back to a 2010 format?
That would be the default DWG format for 2011.

Post screen shot of your dwg export options.
Yep, it's set to replace splines. It's also set to save back to 2000 just like it was in 2011.
Can you attach the file here?
Here you go.
You probably meant this file..
Though honestly we don't use this file anymore, I do get the same result it exports as an actual elipse. We use a VBA routine to export the burn profile. I included it as well.
Looks like a bug in Inventor to me.
I didn't experiment much though, I was waiting for Autodesk to comment (but it looked to me like the Desker didn't understand the problem description).
To insure that you just get line segments (polyline), export to a R12 DXF.
This will insure that you get a polyline.

I don't understand the logic of having a checkbox for Replace Splines available if you also have to set to earlier version. Shouldn't that dialog be grayed out except if set to save to earlier (dxf and not dwg) release?
I don't need a dxf, I need a dwg, so that isn't really a work around that is of any use to me.
I guess you could open the dxf in AutoCAD and save as dwg, but surely this should work directly from Inventor without all the gymnastics.
