Export assembly with weld to ANSYS

Hi,

I'm trying to import a assembly file with groove welds to ANSYS Mechanical.

But I'm getting the error Invalid "volume" in ANSYS Mechanical. Is the weld not "built up" same as an ipt file?

Is the weld only a surface in Inventor? Is there any way to convert the weld in Inventor so that  it gets volume in ANSYS?

Best regards

Tor C Boshom.

I wonder if you do a shrinkwrap as separate bodies, keep the weld bodies only and add that back into your iam.

Would that convert better to Ansys? Wonder how that will affect the results, having the welds as single part.

?  derive assembly into differrent parts by material type and assemble them before sending it to Ansys?

Most of the time I treat welds as base material anyway.

Tor,

Please export a SAT file from Inventor and then import into ANSYS.

What does ANSYS suggest?

Thank you.
