Exploded View

If one creates a number of solid objects in a single part file, can you still explode each individual object that are all contained in that one part file when created an exploded presentation file? Or do you have to create a part file for each object, assemble it, then explode?

Thanks

you cannot load a .ipt file into a Presentation file can you?

I asume you are using Multi-Body modeling. You still need to push this into a IAM file so that you can apply different materials to the individual parts (if required). This IAM file would them be used for the Exploded view in the Presentation function of Inventor.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Thank you for the reply. I am building a large device that is basically
broken into 3 sections. So, rather than have 30 part files, I created 3
part files and built each section, which contains multiple parts, into each
file. That worked out pretty nicely, however, when I want to make a
presentation file or even a drawing file for that matter, at least to me,
it is not very intuitive as to how you can individual move each part in the
presentation file, or show a drawing for each part in the drawings files.
I'll give you an example about the drawing file. When I started a drawing
file, I loaded each part file which contains multiple parts. If I wanted to
show specific dimensions for each part, I would have to load the same part
file multiple times and only allow visibility of the part that I am
interested in. This works fine, but I assumed there would be a much easier
way.

Thanks for you help!

Plenty of youtube videos,etc.. also

Multi-body parts should NOT be used as a replacement for assemblies.

You have missed the step about pushing the Multi-Body Solid to a IAM file. This then allows for different materials and appearances to be pushed out to the single parts. Allows for individual part drawings and allows for the Presentation module to be used for exploded views.

So, I did place the multi-body part file into an IAM file or assembly file. Unless I am missing something, I do not see the ability to create individual drawings of a single part. Thanks again.

You will need to create each IPT drawing from scratch, just the same as for the IAM file. No "Easy Button" for this.
