expanded metal, how to create it?

Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has successfully made a model of Expanded
Metal Mesh?
I thought that I saw a post here or ICF the other day but I believe it was a
cylinder and not a flat piece, now I can't find it. With the type of work I
do it would be nice if I could use the Expanded Metal in some of my
assembly's.

Thanks

Josh

Won't a texture with transparency do?

You can use the expanded metal texture to show expanded metal. Use
Format>Colors>Texture>Choose and select the expanded metal texture. See my
post on 10/2/2003 titled "Expanded Metal Guard" for an example.

Most of us use a texture. To actually model the mesh would use way too
much resources. Checkout FAQ0416 at www.mymcad.com

Thanks Guys I'll have to try using the textures like you had said.

Thanks I never thought to check out Charles' site. I've found a lot of
useful things there in the past. I even picked up a couple of extra texture
when I stopped in.
Thanks guys,

Josh

Now that I have the new textures how do I get them into the texture library?
I'm not to sure how to do it.

Forget my last question. I got it taken care of, just copied the texture
then added it to the Inventor texture folder.

I decided to make expanded metal the lesson of the day, see files in
IVCF. Regular and flattened are there. There are 4 parameters (thanks
Larry) that drive the basic shape. Then array that shape into the
approximate size you need or array it to the standard 4' x 8' size. In
a couple of days when the array is finished.... you can cut the shape
you need from it.

Now that's what I was talking about earlier, the real deal not just a
texture. Both will work out great for my applications.
Thanks to all of you for the good suggestions and work you did.
