Emboss Topology Change Error

Hello everyone, I am designing a prop gun from a game called Team Fortress 2 called The Ambassabor.

The Ambassador has a very intricate design on the barrel which I am having trouble engraving in.

I'll attach the ipt and a picture of what the gun looks like. The picture is also in sketch 29 of the ipt.

Whenever I try to engrave such small lines into the barrel it gives me a topology error saying I should thin the engraving or simplify the geometry but I was attempting to emboss at .01 inches and the geometry consisted of very simple splines.

Please help!
