Embedded parameters question

If I have a part controlled by an embedded spreadsheet and use "save as" to make several new parts from it each with different dimensions, should I be able to insert all of these new parts into an assembly without problems?
When I do this Inventor crashes unless I delete the spreadsheets from the new parts.
Thanks.

Embedded yes, linked no.

Not sure why you get the crash but your logic is correct.

Post the part in CF and we'll have a look.

We've always has issues with embedded spreadsheets. Never quite repeatible enough to be able to log a solid defect though.

Thanks,
In my case the part was a gear. I even made a new gear from scratch and got the same crashes. I'll just continue to remove the spreadsheets from the parts as it's not that big a deal to do.
