Editing multibody parts

A (hopefully) quick question concerning multibody parts  and assemblies created from them.....

I create a multibody part called MB with multibodies named 'A' and 'B'.

Using the Make Components command I create componets A and B, and an assembly of A and B and call it AB.

I understand (and am a great fan of) that if I edit the multibodies A or B in MB, then  the corresponding changes will be made to the newly created parts A and B in AB.

my question is this, does (or should) this work the other way around? - if i place a hole in part B, should this change the original multibody? It does not on my machine but I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something!

thanks
