edit hatch pattern on multiple parts

I have an assembly drawing .IDW with more than 50 instances of an O-ring (same ipt.). Is it possible to edit the hatching of the O-ring and all 50 will update without having to edit each individually. ?

Thanks

Inv 2008 sp1 ( for now !!:>)

I'm afraid there's no easy way how to change hatch for all your instances.
I believe it could be better if there would be the ability to select a hatch/hatches and apply the desired hatch style through styles drop down menu.
I've logged it as wish # 1017956.

Ah, not so fast Rado - I think he can do it 🙂

First - make sure all of the o-rings are using the same material.
Second - Edit your standard style, go to the Material Hatch Pattern Defaults
tab
Third - Add your o-ring material to the list and set it to the desired hatch
pattern, save changes and exit the style dialog
Fourth - Multi-select the hatch patterns in your drawing view(s),
right-click and select Pattern > By Material

That should do it.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Andrew for saving my skin 🙂

Though I still think that maybe it could be worth to consider the wish.

First, thanks for all of your replies,
I must be doing something wrong, if I go into style and standard editor, pick hatch /create new and create a style named O-ring, set the preferences for it and pick save. Then go format" save style to styles library.also did a update styles.
When picking on a hatch or several hatches the option "by material" is grayed out. As for projects "use style library" is set to "yes". I am missing a step but don't know what step.

thanks

look for the topic "Set the default style for hatch patterns" in the help index. select the topic and look for the section on "Map materials to hatch patterns"

Did you ever get an answer to the By Material option being 'greyed out'.  I have the same problem and can't figure it out.

Thanks,

Dan
