Edit dimension when created

Tools\Application Options\Sketch
"Edit dimension when created"

I always use this feature enabled, but for some reason, sometimes, It decides
to disable itself...can`t see exactly the pattern for when this happens, no
big deal (I saw it in release 5/5.3 also) but it`s a bit frustrating.

Regards,
Jorgen

Same thing happens to me also, from Inventor 5.3 to 6.0 SP1.

Some people have problems with losing settings. I think a reinstall or maybe
an SP was the remedy. Meanwhile you can always toggle it on/off while
creating dimensions. After picking your first geometry, before placing the
final location of the dim, RMB and you will see "Edit dimension". You can
pick this to toggle the feature.

It still does it to me after going from 5.3 to 6, then a move to a newer
machine with a fesh install of the OS, then SP1.
It doesn't bother me much at all when the setting disapears, just curiuos as
to whjy it does it.

If you crash before exiting correctly the settings will not be saved. I
have 5.3 and 6 on the same machine and the settings stick. Best thing to do
is set them, exit then set them in the other version and exit. Seems to
stick here at least...

The only time we see settings disappear is when another user logs onto the machine. When that happens, everything goes back to default settings (template directories etc). I'm guessing that to fix this we need to make the default changes while logged in as the administrator. This resetting occurs everytime another user logs in and they open Inventor.

Steve

PS. Sean thanks for the line break tip.

Attach some screen capture images.

Your problem sounds entirely different than the problem in this thread - if you do in fact have it activated, yet it does not work.

In the original problem I most often would see users experience this behavior when they were working fast and indavertently unchecked Edit Dimension when using the right mouse button (the screen was a little different back then than my attached image.

Most of the Tools>Application Options settings do not have a RMB access as well.
