DWG Import crashes in Inventor 2008 - Solution

If you are crashing when trying to insert a .dwg file into a sketch, or when
trying to Import an entire .dwg file, it may be caused by a bad install of
the AutoCAD OemViewer, which is used to preview the .dwg file during import.

If you suspect this is your problem, do the following:

1. In Add/Remove programs, Uninstall "AOEMView 2008"
2. On your install CD, locate the \Support\OemViewer directory and run
Setup.exe.

Note: Uninstalling Inventor 2008 DOES NOT uninstall the OemViewer.
Reinstalling Inventor 2008 will NOT repair a bad install of the OemViewer.

Possible causes of a bad OemViewer install:

1. You had a pre-release version of Inventor 2008 installed on your machine.
2. An antivirus or firewall program interfered with the proper installation
of the OemViewer.

Note that some users have had this problem even though neither of the above
situations applied, so there may be other causes of a bad install.

(Kent, this would be a good candiate for the FAQ)
