any of you using dual monitors with Inventor? My PC has PNY 750 XGL (W2KPro
sp4, P4-2.4, 1.5Gb DDR, nVidia 6.13.10.4072, fully green by Inv7 diags) and an
ancient Hitachi 21" Superscan Pro 800. This card has one VGA and one DVI
output. The Hitachi is acting up, so I better think about a replacement
soon....
My idea us to replace it with two identical 19" flats. Some of these have
two inputs, one VGA and one DVI. I could then use one output to each. I think
that all of the menus and toolbars can be moved to the left display, leaving
the full right one for the whole model. I think this would actually give me a
larger model area than what is left over on my single 21" tube.
Better yet, I could use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch on one of the
screens to also look at my server.
My questions:
1. How do you configure Inv7 (or 8 next week!) to do
this?
2. Would you KVM switch the VGA side or the DVI side?
3. Are
there different KVMs for VGA vs. DVI (not just different connectors, but
different circuits)?
4. Are there different grades of KVMs that offer less
degradation of the image at higher resolutions?
5. Might I be better off
changing to a 950 XGL that has two DVI outputs?
6. Any alternative
suggestions?
TIA,
Ken Sexton
