Drawings will not update with part

I am having some issues concerning updating drawings. When a part (.IPT) is placed in a drawing, everything is fine (ie. the views represented in the drawing are up-to-date). Yet, when I make a change to the part (something as small as a dimensional change) it does not translate through to the drawing. This is also the case for iProperties.

I have been playing around for a while now, but have had no luck. The part is also an iPart, but this shouldn't matter.

If nayone knows why this is happening I'd love to here.

Thanks,

Ross.

@Myles1

Make sure the member you want to be updated in the view is either checked out (if you're using Vault) or not set to read only.  Once the member can be generated (right click-generate files) the member in the view will update.  You can re-generate the member all you want, but if it is read only or not checked out, it will not update.

This works for us every time.

Thanks a lot for your comments, that's actually the process I currently use, but that's good to know other peoples workflow. FYI - I'm also using Vault.

Here is my current Workflow which seems to be working.

1- Checkout iPart/iAssembly.

2- Make changes.

3- Rebuild All.

4- Generate Members.

5- Save.

It would be nice if you could show us your current work flow when using iParts/iAssemblies and Vault. I would like to see the process from an expert.

Thanks a lot.

In the drawing right click on the drawing view and edit view. Then check the little box which makes the drawing view associative. The drawing view will now update.

I know I'm bringing up a dead thread but I had this issue today and this post helped me solve it. I had forgotten about checking this option.

ake sure your drawing view is set to associative.

Hey hey,

I had changed some parts on my drawing to 'reference' but then my drawing views wouldn't update. You just saved me from redoing my drawing 🙂 not a huge drawing to redo but time saved! This was my last search before I started over!

I am unable to select the box which makes the drawing view associative.

That's because you have the Master view rep selected.  Any other view rep can be made associative, but not the Master.

I couldn't update.  I had saved my model which was still open. What worked for me was going back to the model and Rebuild All.

Hi! The behavior does not sound right to me. Could you share the files and tell me how to reproduce the problem.

Many thanks!
