Drawing Views not updating

The drawing views in my IDW will not update by any standard method.  Using 'Update' in the IDW would not get rid of the green corners of the drawing view.  When I would open the IAM and try to save, I get error message 'Cannot save because another Design View Rep. is being edited...'  Only the IDW and IAM are open.

I RMB on the view and select 'Apply Design View'...nothing.  I RMB on the view and select 'Make View Precise' and it seems to solve all my problems, except I am no longer able to change the Drawing Veiw's View Rep.  This is not an issue with my specific drawing, but I have had similar issues occur in the past and I hope someone could shed some insight on my problem.

Using Inventor 2014.

An error message is displayed when conflicting edits for a single Level of Detail are simultaneously open. Development has not been able to block all work flows that can lead to this scenario. This is possible to do in Inventor since having a drawing open can be comparable to having the whole model (iam and ipt) open. Since drawing views are associative to the model, it is possible to have the same assembly file open with pending edits in separate LOD’s. If you open up multiple instances of Inventor, in some cases it is possible to have pending edits of the same LOD.

An example of a workflow that may cause lead to the issue described in this case.

1. Open an assembly in LOD1 in one Inventor session and make edits
2. Open the same assembly with LOD2 in the other session.
***Note: It is possible to open up the same assembly file with a different LOD via the Open Options

3. A warning message appears if Inventor detects that there is save-able change in one of the LOD’s (LOD1).
4. If the user chooses not to save at this time, then further edits to LOD2 may be a loss since the user will ultimately only be able to save to one version of the file.

The best solution is to save and close all other open windows. It may help to save and close windows more often, if you have received this error message often. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

The behavior does not sound right to me. If you have an example to share, please post it here or send it to me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com).

Thanks!
