Drawing files view icon

Hi Forum

I have two problems with a IDW drawing.

Most of my views have been crosed over by a red line in the Model browser window (se attachment)
What does this red line meen?

Also, all the views with the red line have been set to Raster View Only. I can untick it without problems, but when I click OK and reopen the dialog the checkmark is back on.

How come inventor turns this mark on by itself?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

As far as i can see, the red line is an indication that the view is a raster view.
The view can be in this state because either; it has been set to raster view intentionally, or the assembly/part it is referencing is out of date.

Can you make sure that your model is up to date and see if that fixes the problem?

Hi Niels

Thanks.

As far as I can see it should be up to date. I have tryed to open both the ,ipt file and the assambly in witch it is used and non of those seems to be complaining about anything not being up to date.

Also the view on sheet one does not have any problems. and all the view reference to the same part.

I havent specified to use raster view anywhere (at least not what I'm aware of).

hmm... can you try this then and see if that makes a difference:

Go to the Application options > drawing tab
Almost at the bottom, uncheck "enable background updates"

I tried with a simple model, placing the views with the "raster view only" active upon placement.
When i right-click on a view and select "make precise" the red line goes away and when i "edit view" the checkbox is unchecked.

Is it possible for you to post your part and idw?

Hi Niels

I can't seem to finde anywhere to click "make precise"

I tryed to send you a private message, but I can't attach files to private messages.

Can you send me your email?

"make view precise" should be here:

Make_view_precise.png

If the view is already "precise" then the same line will say "make view raster".

Hi Niels

The view on sheet one (the one that works), there I can finde the "Make View Precise".

But It's not there in the other ones...

I opened the file you sent me and it showed the red line at first, but after hitting update (and "update all" for the other sheets) they became "precise".

I did notice there are 2 adaptive holes in the ipt, you could try to turn of adaptivity for those and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Niels

Now I started a new drawing with a nother part file.

And all of a sudden I got red lightning on all sheets. I hit update and problem solved...

Many thanks for spending time on me and my problems.

Rasmus,

Can you please confirm that you have Autodesk Inventor 2014 Service Pack 1 installed:
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL22322619

If you do have SP1 or it did not resolve your issue, can you please ZIP up a Pack and Go of your IDW and send it to me to take a look at.   If the ZIP file is too large to be sent through a private message, please let me know and I may be able to contact you outside of the forum.

Thank you.

I'am having the same problem as described above with a drawing I am working on. I have tryed a number of things including the advice given and variations of it.The thing that is standingout that now if I model a new component then attempt to draft it in an IdW I+ lays them out in Raster, I update (New part>update not aluminated> click on it anyway) the right click display >make all sheets precise then nothing happens. the point being this has never happen d. please any sugestions. thanks

Luke,

Welcome to the forum.

I think that we will need to have you do a Pack and Go on your IDW/DWG so that we can take a look at it.

Thank you.

The diagonal red bar (raster state) on the drawing tree was my problem of this day and I solve it.

It happened with no reason on all my drawing sheets.  I wasn't able to make bend mark on my unfolded part.

I found, it was because i was running out of memory (RAM) with my computer.

I just closed heavy apps, and restart Inventor. All the red bar disappered.

Hope it will help the ones who still didn't fix their issues.

Exactly as above, I had the red bar across all views, which would never finish 'updating' when exporting a DXF.  Closed and reopened Inventor, and it's working fine.
