Hi
I`m looking for the best way to get started on a construction of a catamaran sailboat.
My thought is as follow:
Seen from ahead, split the boat down the middle where the mast is placed, since the two sides will be almost identical, it should be possible to mirror the final construction.
Starting with the hull I would create a number of workplanes, placed evenly down the hull for each bulkhead.
When bulkhead are created they should be connected with stringers and finally clad with sheet aluminium.
For the bridgedeck that should extend from the hull, would it be possible to do that with a workplane perpendicular to the hull?
This is just some initial thoughts about the drawing, hope to get some input from you more experienced users.
Thanks
Jens
How much experience do you have with Loft?
How much experience do you have with surface modeling?
Attach your initial attempt here for suggestions.
I have used loft never surface modelling.
What I find difficult is finding an approach where I not only get a nice image but also a parts that can be manufactured and welded together.
For starters -
An assembly file (*.iam) is only a list of hyperlinks to the part files (*.ipt) and a record of assembly constraints (and a bit more).
You must include the part files.
Have you installed all Service Packs and Updates for your version of Inventor?
I looked at one of the part and saw unconstrained sketches, untrimmed geometry, double lines...
I recommend that you go through the Tutorials and these

....
I estimate that you are about 6 mths of experience on easier designs before tackling a catamaran.
There are lots of tutorials and easier examples on the internet.
Is this a school project?
I have some step-by-step projects that might be easier.
