Din ipt Template versus Standard mm

I don't have a question. I just wanted to share something I discovered. I had been using the Standard(mm).ipt and iam templates for European models and and I would have to redefine the front view to match the coordinate system. The coordinate system is different than the english templates. One day I tried the DIN templates and the views were already defined as would be expected. So now I use the DIN template and I would recommend this to anyone making European models and drawings. This way when you make your idw the front view will be the intended front view. If anyone has any comments I'd be interested in hearing them. My default setup is english in case anyone was wondering, but I've been making metric european drawings and I try to use their standard practices.

DIN standard indicates that model "Front" is defined by the XZ plane, while
ANSI and others define front as XY plane, hence the difference.

Note that this can be overwritten in both models and drawings (via the view
cube in model and the Standard style in drawings).

until i tried it out.

 

referring to my old woodwork classes in 1959-- ( !!! yes 1959) i am struggling with

XY plane abd XZ plane

 

Assume there is an object on the desk in front of you

 

Is this correct the front view ( from your seated position) is the XY plane

the plan view ( looking down from the top) is the XZ plane??
