Dimention: intersection

I don't why this has change and I don't know to change it. See CF.

In R8, right click on the extension line. The "options" flyout has a
"hide ext line" option. Does that help?

see a picture with two dimention (the fact that the dimention are not
the same is not the probleme, the dimention are on two different part).
Both dimention were made with the command intersection, but in inventor
8 we now see the extention line and I don't know how to get rid of it.

On my computer it hides the extension line-not the projected intersection. Did you get it to hide the projected intersection and not the extension line?

Sorry Kent' it was too big. Next time everything in
CF

This was done in 7. This is my first time at
an attempt to attach a screen shot. Hope I did it right. Add it's not to
big.

I
think it is an improvement-shows the actual location of the projected
intersection. The old way it was difficult to tell if the dimesion was from
the begining of the fillet arcs, the center of the arcs, or the projected
intersection. I don't know if there is a way to it make it look like the old
method.

That's wierd! I'm not seeing the intersections at all. This must be a
"standards" issue. Mine is home brewed, based on ansi. I can't make 'em
appear to save my life

Take a look at the picture from the avi I made here
http://www.mymcad.com/KWiK/iClips/iClips.htm
I think that was done in R6.

Wow I just wend to diner and bam 10 reply, one question where were you yesterday? By the way I'm a he and I don't want to see the line because all of my idw were made that way and I would prefer that my new drawing look similar to my new drawing. For those who have Inventor 8 try this, open my idw, insert a base view and make a dimention with an intersection. In my case the line will show.

Thank you for your help

kent,
Yes, exactly, but I'm not getting the display of projected
intersections. Just blank real estate. I used to see them in R7. Now, in
R8, I don't.
Okay, on a migrated idw, using ansi standard, I get projected
intersection lines. On a new template, with a custom standard (based on
ansi) I dont.

Alright, I totally confused. "JCROTEAU" said he didn't have them in 7, but
has them in 8.

I see them if I use a default idw template. I don't see them if I use a template in which I have set up my own dimension style (based on ANSI). Now what if I want to see them in my custom dimension style. J.D.

More,
Not sure what the threshhold is, but there is a relationship betwwen
dimstyle and the size of the radius feature. I'm getting them
consistently on radii 0.25" and over. But not on smaller ones.

Now if someone can just figure out what controls it. I can't make all of
my fillets less than a 1/4".

Wouldn't you rather have the marks there so whom ever is using the drawing for what ever reason will not think that your dim is going tangent to a radius rather than an apparent intersection.......thus making your part smaller. The larger your radius the further off your part would be......wouldn't it?

Just a thought........MikeG

This would be a good wish list item - be able to turn off visibility of
these types of extension lines

Normally, I would say yes. But, what with me being the machinist, most
of my drawings are for in-house dim checks. So I don't like the clutter.

Yup,

I think it also has to do with the drawing scale/feature gap size

No wonder no one from ADESK got into this, it's
even confusing to them.
