dimensioning in sketch

i want to dimensiona sktech wrt a plane perpendicular to the sketch. i tried using origin planes but it won't work. Now i need this plane as a placement refrence while creating a ifeature so that while placing the ifeature i can use this plane and define the distance as required.

Am i missing something here. i'm not able to find any help in the help also. am i doing something that is not possible in inventor because this is possible in other packages.

saket,
when you are in your sketch, use "project" to add the datum plane(s) you
want onto your sketch. Then you can dimension from them.
