anyone else been unable to dimension ellipses in INV 6 idw's? I'm sure I
remember doing it in INV 5.3.

I don't see this in R6SP1. Let me
guess.
Guess 1: could this be an offset
ellipse?
There are two sorts of offset ellipses, one that
remains a true ellipse and one that is a spline (depending on the
position of the initial pick point during offset creation)
Guess 2:could it
be that you used the "Convert to spline" context menu on the offset
ellipse?
In case you went through one of these
workflows, itcould very well be that you are working with a spline that
"looks" like an ellipse but isn't. And we don't
dimension splines in Inventor.
