Dimension Styles - IV6SP2

I would like to change the current size of the text in my dimension style in
an existing drawing. So I go into the Dimension Styles editor and notice
that I have it set to DEFAULT - ANSI -RAVEN, which I cannot edit. So I
create a copy of that, change the size to what I want. Then I go to Drafting
Standards and change Active Dimension Style to the copy. But I do not notice
any change to the existing dimensions in the idw. I save and close the idw,
then reopen it and still don't notice any change.

If I change the active dimension style, shouldn't all existing dimensions be
updated to what is active?

Thanks,
John

No. Select the dims you want to change and the use the dim style pulldown
at the top of the screen to change them to the style you want.

Ok. Is this because I changed the style after some dimesions have already
been created? If so, that the pits, that's alot of dimensions that need be
be selected to change one by one or by selecting and holding the shift key
down. Why can't there be an update dimension styles for all dimensions
button somewhere, as i wanted the change to be universal in this drawing?
Maybe I'm the only one who has to add more dimensions to a drawing because
more features were added to the part. Oh well.
Thanks Sean,

John

I guess then you get into the issue of, what happens if you want to globally change the style but not impact the dimensions that are already placed. At the time the dimension is created, it picks up the then active style..
I guess the most "correct" answer is to put the desired dimension style(s) into the template and set the most common one as active. If you had then used that everywhere, you should then be able to globally change as you wish.
We NEVER use the ANSI-default style. I realize that doesn't help you with stuff in work but it can work as you describe going forward if the templates/standards are right. Joe Beauchesne ... joebeauche@excite.com ... Boeing Satellite Systems

If you change the dim style that all of the dims were created with then they
should change. But as you found out you cannot edit the default-ANSI style.
Hindsight is 20-20 hunh ? At least next time you will know how to do it.

Best of luck!
