# Determine Area of sheet metal

Is there an easy way to get the Flat pattern area into the parts list through one of the parameters. Do I have to create a parameter and calculate that using the Bend allownance or is it straight forward.

- The Area shown in the iProperties-Physical-General Properties. Is this area the total area on both sides of the sheet metal part. Is dividing this area by 1/2 gives you the Flat pattern area taking the Bend allowance into consideration ???

pattern area taking the Bend allowance into consideration ???

The area displayed there is the total surface
area of the sheet metal part in its folded state.  If the flat pattern is a
simple rectangle, the area displayed is the sum of the areas of all six
faces.  If the part is much larger than the thickness of the sheetmetal,
dividing by 2 would produce a reasonable approximation of the flat pattern
area.
