I am working on a an internal gear design using the Spur Gear design accelerator and the ANSI/AGMA 2001-D04:2005 strength calc basis. This tool has an option to select between internal and external external gears. According to AGMA 908-B89 “an analytical method for determining the Bending Strength Geometry Factor, J, for internal gears is beyond scope of this standard”. I verified with AGMA that internal gear geometry factors are not addressed by any AGMA standard. Does anyone know how inventor is determining J on internal gears?
