Derived weld not showing correctly IV 2014

I have two plates welded together to make a beam, then that weldment is derived for a secondary machining operation and the weld shows up triple it's size in the derived part (see image)  Is there a way around this? is this a bug?

thanks!

Got it, just toggled keep seams between planar faces and the welds show up correctly, still not sure if this is the correct behavior but it's fixed for me.

If any of you Autodesk guru's need the data set just let me know.

Hi! I think you have found the right option to do that. If you use the default single solid option, mergeable faces will be merged. Depending on the order of the merging, you might get unexpected result. To avoid faces being merged, you will need to use "Keep seam" option, like you just did.

Thanks!
