Derived Assembly making unused style names

Hi Inventor Stars

On updating my Derived Assembly,

the Derived Part Files are generating Unused Style Names,

that ‘Purge Styles from all Child Documents” cannot delete.

Is this usual,

or does it sound like a problem someone has encountered before.

Inventor 2014 Suit..

I duplicated then Renamed then Deleted original Material from ‘Adesk Shared Default’ into new .adsklib file into Work\My Name\Design Data.

The Inventor Materials is not mapped in my ipj.

Any help would be ace. . a white paper on materials would be even better.

Thanks MatB

Are these files imported from other locations?  Did you create these files from scratch?

Thanks Scott

I created a .adsklib file in my Single IPJ, populated it with Autodesk Shared Materials,

duplicated then Renamed,

then assigned the Appearance’s and Physical Assets via the ‘Double Arrows’.

here is a screen shot of the extra Appearance Styles that are made on updating the Derived Assembly;

showing an Underscore_Number added to the end.

. . thanks again Scott

. . after testing another Derived Assembly,

it seems to be that the Parts were corrupt,

bc all is working fine now that i am re-deriving all parts .

My problem i think was changing the View Representations,

thru Redesign, way too many times. .

View Representations don’t seem to like having,

Solid Bodies deleted outside of editing I think for one?!

Maybe now i will stop having trouble with Phantom - nonexistent Workplanes

being created & ‘error messaged’ when moved,

among other ‘Crash Instigators’. .

Sounds like the software could not keep up with what you were doing.  Then to make matters worse it was corrupted.  Now wonder you were having issues.  Glad you figured this one out.  I have found that starting with a clean sheet of paper is the way to go sometimes.
