Demoting

Hello Group,
I need to create a new assembly within an assembly. I picked the first
part to "demote", named the new assembly and IV gives me a dialog:
"Could not open default Template file".
I have checked that the assembly.iam in templates has been properly
migrated, etc., and that the path in Files is correct to where I have
the templates.
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you,
Erich

Hi Erich, I just ran into this problem today, and after seeing that there were no answers yet, I did some more digging. Apparently, Inventor is looking for the original "Standard.iam" file for the template. If you changed the name or made new templates (like I did) it won't find it. So, I created a temporary template file: just copied and pasted my new assy template and renamed it standard.iam and left it in the directory where the templates are. Worked fine after that. -Steve-o
