Dell M90 and Quadro FX3500M IV2008 don’t like this

Hallo
I have installed many drivers in the last day’s to bring my M90 to work well inside IV2008.
I have also updated the Hardware Lib from ADESK but still warnings come up.
In D3D Mode he tells me not enough memory to open window
In OGL Mode he says’s it’s not recommend Hardware.
On the ADESL Site Quadro FX3500M isn’t listed.
Can please someone from ADESK (or anyone else); tell me the right Driver Version????
Attached my M90 Data

I updated my M90-fx2500m with the latest drivers from the Dell site, I get
the hardware error with the OpenGL setting and no error with the Direct3D
setting. Possibly the FX3500m card is to new to show up in the ADSK hardware
library. If you don't have any display problems with IV, you are using the
right driver in my opinion.

Hi Blair

Thanks’ for your answer.
The Problem is that I am not able to work in D3D Mode because Inventor tells me
That’s not enough memory.
I think it can be a problem that I have 4GB Memory and there is not enough Address Space.
I hope someone from ADESK will be able to bring up a better solution.

Check into your BIOS settings. Find out what the capacity of the Video ( not
RAM) memory is. If the system uses RAM for video, then there is probably a
setting in the BIOS to control the size of the video memory.

My HP laptop has only 64MB of memory on the Nvidia Go chip, and both OpenGL
and D3D work fine and without issue. Blair might be correct in the reporting
on a new card.

No there are no settings.
So i think Adesk must make an new Hardware Lib.
It's an joke that the most powerfull Card in M90 Series is not supported

Hi Frank.

I posted this exact problem a couple of weeks ago. I'm using the latest
92.77 driver which WHQL certified for D3D mode. However, Microsoft do not
support D3D when booted into 3GB mode. So, when booting normally I run in
D3D, then switch to OpenGL when in 3GB mode and ignore the nag screens.

I have requested to have a certified OpenGL driver for this laptop/card
combination, but the FX3500M is not a standard offering from Dell (when
buying online) it has to be bought through a reseller.

Forgot to mention, there is a critical BIOS update for the M90 that was
released a few weeks ago that should be installed. Main problem is security
issues when connected through wireless amongst others.

Hi Guys,

Ive had problems with my dispaly for the last few weeks. Seems to be driver related as graphics card replacement did not solve the problem. I had been supplied with a driver for a 3500 and not 3500M. I was experiencing flashing on the screen when i changed from one part to another and also rotating large models. I updated the driver to 6.14.10.9422 for a 3500M. Now running with 3GB switch on Direct3D. Everything seems ok so far.

what drivers are you guys using? Full numbers please?

WHY HAVE AUTODESK NOT LISTED THE QUADRO 3500M ON THEIR GRAPHICS CARD LIST ? ?

Theyve got great resources for Nvidia mobile drivers. I was having issues with my HP NW9440 mobile workstation with the 1500M chipset. Considering HP's drivers were only at 90xx series and this site is up to 156xx (for XP) series you should be able to find an answer.

I had an M90 with the quadro 2500m in it. I had a lot of problems, like the ones you are describing. About a year later I decided to upgrade my laptop. Sold it on eBay and the guy I sold it to had to have the video card and motherboard replaced. He was happy I had the 3 year next day warranty 🙂

I have heard of people having similar issues on mcadforums.com. I hope this isn't what you guys are about to experience.

Dell M90 with the FX2500.

Still the same BIOS as was shippped from Dell.
Still the same display driver as was shipped from Dell.

Problems I have:
remnants of closed windows;
occassional black bars.

No error messages.
