Delete Items in a Component Pattern

How is the best way to delete items from a component pattern within an assembly?

You can right-click on one of the occurences and make them independent.

These are my options when I rmb.

I don't think you can delete the first element in a pattern.

Independent option only shows up when you rmb on the element node. You can
also edit the pattern and add/remove elements. Are you just trying to
remove one part of a sub-assy, from one instance of a pattern?

And you would need to RMB on Element(number) not the parts within the
Element.

I get the same options if I choose the first item or any other item within the pattern.
