Database schema is newer than this version of the software

I have Inventor 8 at home but I use Inventor 10 at school. I saved files in school on my jump drive and brought them home to work on them and when i went to open them on my computer i got this message:
[ERROR] Database schema is newer than this version of the software
Is there anything i can do that will allow me to open Inventor 10 files using Inventor 8?
-Josh

Your only option is to save as sat or stp dumb solids. You can open those in 8 and edit, but your prior history will be gone.

A 30 day trial will get you thru the next 30 days, if you have not installed
it prior. Time to visit your school bookstore...

With saving it as a .stp file, I was able to open the part, but the part itself does not display.  i turned on the work planes and axis, but it shows nothing.

What program did you use to save the file as STEP (*.stp)?  Be specific.

Attach the Inventor file(s) and the resulting *.stp file here.
